About Eliza Kim
Filmmaker, photographer, forever student
Daughter of an acupuncturist turned locksmith, Eliza Kim is a Korean American actor creator, born in Los Angeles and raised in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea and Los Angeles. Eliza’s passion for acting began when she was first cast in physical theatre troupe, Theatre Movement Bazaar’s Model Behavior directed by Tina Kronis. Now she has four years tertiary level acting training including three years at the Los Angeles City College Theatre Academy. She completed her first year at Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre last year.
Eliza is a multifaceted artist on a mission. She is committed to anti-racist practices and believes that art has the power to reflect the soul of the audience and to be a tool for social change. She attributes the majority of her knowledge to the stage and the theatre community. The community's outreach sustained her, resulting in a deep-seated passion for activism.
Eliza is a cynical idealist; committed to tackling discrimination in theatre by wielding her trademark sharp sarcastic wit. If she is in the rehearsal room, the representation of Asian Americans in the project has probably increased by 100%.
She was inspired to create sunhomestudio through stories of her fellow storytellers and herself. Through it, she wants to promote therapeutic self-care. She believes the first step in healing is a safe space in which to explore emotions, trauma, and movement. Utilizing the openness, compassion, and storytelling skills she had gained from theatre education, she is dedicated to promote and reflect back to her neighborhood right here in Los Angeles through this studio.
